The Making of the Rolling Stones "Street Fighting Man"
Переглядів 37 тис.Рік тому
Join guitarist/audio engineer Lee Flier and her merry band of co-conspirators as they demonstrate the unique way the Rolling Stones recorded their iconic "Street Fighting Man." For Lee, this was the culmination of a dream that started when she was 16 and first read the session described in interviews by Keith Richards and Charlie Watts. We hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did! Credits: ...

Sadly, my basement studio here in Atlanta, which is usually filled with musicians, has been mostly idle this year of the pandemic. Luckily, my friends and I are well used to collaborating remotely! Though drummer Pete still came over to record his drum tracks safely, everyone else added tracks from their respective locations. We love this song and hope it brings you a little joy this crazy holi...

Wow, I'm speechless, I just suscribed, why didn't I find you earlier?
The best cover I've ever heard, kudos, you guys juste nailed it!
Great job, and the drumming is next level
Dayum you guys killed it. And i've been a fan of Paul Frindle for years. So much talent... my God.
Very cool. Well done.
This was the drum set used.... ua-cam.com/video/Mx0B3cybuf4/v-deo.htmlsi=7exsanl7sEf42c5U
You're no slouch on that geetar!!
Great video, I would only suggest that the mic is a dynamic.
Which mic?
@@whattherock the cassette recorder mic - it's not a crystal, but a dynamic.
Terrific!! Only 1 question.wasnt Keith playing with just 5 strings on his guitar? Great reproduction. I hope Keith gets to hear it!!!
Keith didn’t really get into the 5-string thing until a year or so later, and only some of his guitars are strung that way. The 5-string setup is for open G tuning, so when he plays in standard tuning or any other tuning, he still uses a 6-string. During the Beggars Banquet period, he was mostly playing in open E, open D or standard. So no 5-string yet. 🙂 Glad you enjoyed it!
Who knew? Now we do. Thank you for your love and admiration of the Stones. Well done!
I've been waiting for this video for years - great idea to re-create recording into the Phillips tape recorder and use an antique drum set. Super musicianship, sent shivers down my spine. Thank you!
Good job 😊
Very cool ! One of my favorite Stones songs for sure. So interesting on how the song was made . Awesome performance of it also .
This is just so brilliant, Lee - thank you!
Onoe of my all time favourites thank you gentlemen
So well done!
Wow kerennnn banget gaeeesss....
👍👍👍👍👍
Probably the most entertaining, informative and musical explanation of a classic recording I have ever heard. Astounding. Just wow!
I've Heard The Analogues WHO have Several Members There a Amazing , But this Small Group with limited High Technology 😊WELL DONE !!
True but I am only missing the screams in the longer fade out. But it's a kick-ass cover. 😊
amazing!!!!!
Very impressive
5 Stars
well done boys...
Great party
That’s awesome!
Awesome. Third video to make my covers playlist. A first for any artist. This, Apeman, and Shattered. God bless and keep up the excellent work ❤️✝️🇺🇸
That was so cool 😎 Keep rocking
Man did you all nail this!! SUPERB!!!
So I had a feed come over my FB page about the group Oasis recording Street Fighting Man in order to piss Keef off. While listening to their distorted version ( not impressed ) I found Lee's little jewel of a project. Outstanding ! It's cool to discover how much effort went into recording their songs 50 plus years ago.
Done this way, Time Stands Still could have easily been an 80’s indie pop hit. It’s a great song.
Yes, I am really… not a Rush fan, and that’s an understatement. But I’ve always thought this was a great song and it was fun to reimagine in a way non Rush fans might appreciate it more.
@@whattherock We do.
Great!
This is a great video although it doesn't quite nail the original acoustic distortion sound it's a totally cool and certainly usable sound and is in the ballpark as they say. Not certain how to match the original yet but I keep trying. I bought a vintage Phillips cassette recorder [exact same model] but alas it only makes a high squealing noise. I wonder if you know someone who can repair this?
Fantastic video! Great job by all the other musicians. Side note: I'm guessing the Dave Mason your referred to is not the Dave Mason of Traffic and the 'We Just Disagree' singer/guitarist, but actually David Mason of the LSO, who also played piccolo trumpet on Penny Lane. Keep rockin'.
Glad you enjoyed it! And no, the Dave Mason who played the shehnai is the one from Traffic.
A very good performance of this song, congratulations dear musicians 👍👍👍
Nice job
Love the rawness. Excellent job!
Brilliant, as always. If I heard this on the radio, I would swear it was Mick & Co!
Super fantastic!!
Gorgeous! Worth the wait. Wonderful Keith-esque backing vocals. This really makes me smile -- thank you so much!
I also love it very much ! Thanks a lot !
Nice interpretation. That looks like a great time. It’s a joy to play music like that and you see that on their faces.
Oh yeah!
Love it Lee. Feel fortunate to be the first viewer. Time WAS on my side for this! love & peace, and rock and roll.
Thisvudeo us great a lot of work. Back then must have been something to put an acoustic guitar overloaded through a cassette to an extension speaker and on studio tape. Very unique sound for sure. Acoustic Made electric acoustic playing through the extension speaker to studio tape. Only electric instrument is the bass. So cool
Excellent interpretation. I just discovered this title a few weeks ago. Not seeing Mick sing... that makes this song absolutely magical.
Awesome guy's! Well done!
You guys were great. Where was Mick?
